The BA Insight Jive Connector was specifically developed for Jive, establishing a secure connection to the Jive application and mapping the content including metadata and attachments from the Jive schema to the search engine schema. It then extracts content and feeds it to the search engine in a process called ingestion.  It supports Elasticsearch, Elastic Cloud, and Elastic Cloud Enterprise.

There are two types of ingestion:

  • Full, which ingests all desired content
  • Incremental ingestion, which extracts only content which has changed since the last ingestion

The key capabilities of the Jive Connector for Elasticsearch, Elastic Cloud, and Elastic Cloud Enterprise are:

  • Works with unstructured content as well as structured data. Large documents, attachments, and complex systems with customer-configurable schema are typical.
  • Indexes every desired item with a very high throughput. Many BA Insight customers have millions of documents or even hundreds of millions. Just one million documents indexed at one document/second would take over 11 days for a full crawl!
  • Is light touch, minimizing the impact on the source system without impacting the performance of Jive.
  • Respects Jive security and only surfaces the content that users are permitted to see.
  • Jive retains the master information and the search index has only a representation (pointers). Users expect to click on a search result and be working on the original item or document.
