One of the things I get asked most often is “What Makes Good Enterprise Search”? Every enterprise is different, so there is not a universal solution, but there are things that are common across every successful Enterprise Search project I’ve encountered.
In today’s modern world, time is money. Long gone are the days of pulling dusty volumes off library shelves and searching for relevant case law. Long gone are the days of calling the corporate switchboard and asking whoever answers the phone for the name of ‘that one guy who did that thing’. Long gone are the days of being lost in a sea of partners, associates, and paralegals whose names and faces you can’t seem to put together, much less remember which cases they’re currently working on.
I've found myself talking about Information Strategy a lot lately. I'm not a strategy consultant - I'm a search nerd focused on building great software products. So I've been surprised at how much positive feedback I've received on this subject and at what I've learned recently.
